SHS Varsity Cheerleaders raise $500.00 donation for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute

This past October, the Scranton HS Varsity Football Cheerleaders hosted a fundraiser for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute; a local organization with admission “Ease the Burden of Cancer in Northeastern Pennsylvania”. By selling t-shirts, they were able to donate $500.00, helping local families and health care providers. Congratulations to our cheerleaders on their charitable efforts.

Sophomore, Jacqueline C. Nominated as Holiday Post Contest Finalist

Scranton High School sophomore, Jacqueline C. has been nominated as a finalist in the Holiday Poster Contest, which is sponsored by the Lackawanna/Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs. An awards ceremony honoring the contest winners is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 5:30 p.m., and will be located at the Scranton Cultural Center. Scranton High School Donation to Central Texas Food Bank

On September 28, 2017, Central Texas Food Bank received a $500.00 donation, which was sent by Scranton High School to help aid in the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.  Said donation was used to purchase supplies to prepare emergency boxes of ready to eat items, send food/water to Houston and partner agencies, pack and distribute emergency hygiene boxes to storm victims, and receive and store shipments of food for the affect food banks.  Attached is the "Thank you" letter received for the donation.

Congratulations to Erin Barrett - NEIU Scholar of the Year for Scranton High School

Congratulations to Erin Barrett - NEIU Scholar of the Year for Scranton High School. Erin is the daughter of Matthew and Lori Barrett. She is the third member of her family to attain such an honor. Her sisters, Allison and Aileen Barrett were presented this award in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Erin is a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Student Council, a four (4) year member/captain of the girls basketball team, a member of the girls track and field team, member of the Spirit Club, Spanish Club, Link Crew, and Penn Serve. She also maintains a part time job at a local business. Erin's future plan is to attend Penn State University Schreyer's Honors College. On November 14, 2017, Erin will be interviewed at NEIU 19, and said interview will air on May 6, 2018, on WUSR Radio (99.5 FM). Way to go Erin!!
